The Final 2 Tips of Our Clean House Resolutions

Written by

You may recall the post we published just over a week ago on how to keep your house tidy this New Year, well we said that we would add a few more pointers to that list for you, and identify a few other ways you can keep a clean and tidy house.

Tip 1. The simplest and easiest way to keep clutter free and retain a tidy house is by simply putting things back where they came from after you have used them. If you just take one of the tips away with you and use it, then this is the one I would suggest you do.

There is nothing worse than using something and ditching it in another place, at the end of the day that item will always need to go back to where it came from. The problem is the more things you use and leave lying about, then the more work you will leave yourself later on down the line when you come to tidying up the house.

I think the biggest culprit to many is coats, jackets and the vacuum cleaner. These items can easily be left out and in regards to coats they can pile up making your house look messy.

Tip 2. The second tip that I wanted to offer you is to have a clear out. We have all seen the Hoarders TV series right? You can see how bad things can get if you collect to much stuff, so have a day to sort through the items that you no longer use or no longer need. By creating more space and recycling or chucking out old items you have more room to play with.

How to Keep Your Home Tidy, With Our Top 3 Tips

Written by

Well guys we have started a brand new year, and with that we need to make some resolutions don’t we?

Instead of your standard: Lose weight, stop smoking, stop drinking etc, we have come up with 3 tips to make you a tidier and more organized person. We will even give you some more ideas on how you can keep your house tidy over the course of January!

Tip 1. Putting quality over quantity:

Having too much of one thing can be a nightmare for storage. Let me explain, I have handfuls of bed sheets when really I do not need so many, the same goes for towels as well. By simply buying better made sheets I can keep one sheet for the bed while one sheet is in the wash!

This means there is more storage room, less washing and you still get clean sheets.

Tip 2. Keep one thing clear:

This is actually a crazy idea but it works. If you keep something clean in one room it will help make the rest of that room look tidy. So in the kitchen you need to make sure there is no dishes drying, or needing to be washed, in the bedroom keep your bedside tables clear, in the living area clear the coffee table so its free of clutter.

This really does work a treat!

Tip 3. Use a landing strip:

Do you lose your keys on a regular basis, or forget where you put the mail? Then a landing strip could be what you need to organise your life.

You can use it for keys, mail and even put things that you need to take out of the house the next day on. It certainly saves a lot of hassle having to rip apart your house, and get wound up when you can’t find your car keys doesn’t it?

Deck the Halls With... Frames and Flowers

Written by

So Christmas is all but a few weeks away now and as we enter into the Holidays, we wanted to give you a few interior design tips for your Hallway.

After all, if you are inviting family and friends over this Christmas time then you want to give a first impression as they enter your home.

Tip 1. Place a table in the middle of the hallway, break from the tradition of running furnishings around the perimeter (if space allows).

Tip 2. Top the table with fresh flowers, some framed photographs of you and your family, and perhaps a fishbowl with a floating candle in to bring light to this central attraction.

Tip 3. Make the hallway look bigger by using mirrors on the walls, this will increase the spacious feeling but ultimately keep that cosy sensation that is made up from the candle light. You can even hang some boughs of Holly around the mirror to give that fresh Christmassy look – with blends of greens and reds.

One thing you need to remember is that you need to keep the style in the same theme as the rest of the house and the period.

Otherwise, you will have some mismatches going on and the idea of improving the look can turn on its head quite quickly. Take a few of these tips into account when you prepare for Christmas Day, and have a great festive season from all at NuvoBuilders.com

How Home Improvement Loans Can Help

Written by

Our home is the place that we spend most of our time in, it is the place where we can be ourselves and relax so it is important that our home function in the way we want it to.

Now one of the biggest factors is cash, something that makes the world go round and something that we need to invest into home renovation and improvement. Whether the improvement is a minor or major issue it doesn’t matter as some people need the help come what may.

So what can you do about it? Home improvement loans are the best road to go down, loans which are specifically designed for people who want to make changes to their home but they cannot because of their financial standing.

So whether you are looking at adding of a bedroom, revamping your kitchen, adding safety features, or just landscaping the garden, you can make the money back you have spent as these changed will increase the price of your house.

Benefits of home improvement

As I said in the last paragraph, home improvement work is not dead money as it raises the value of the house, which helps when you come to selling the house.

Home improvement work also helps cut out the stress, burden and financial aspects of having to move out and buy a new house. You would be surprised on how a few new carpets and a lick of paint can really transform the interior of your home.

The Top 5 Ideas For Renovating Your Kitchen

Written by

The kitchen is one of the popular areas of the house that people like to remodel and reinvigorate with new life. After the entire kitchen does get its fair share of use throughout the day and is one of the rooms in your house that will begin to deteriorate quicker than say, your bedroom or bathroom.

In today’s tight housing market having a new kitchen really can be the selling point, and it doesn’t have to cost mega dollars to remodel.

Our top 5 modern ideas include:

Adding a custom island - This feature has become very popular in the last decade, and creates plenty of working space with surfaces that are not only pleasing to the eye but are durable as well.

Install a new kitchen sink with a stylish faucet head. Sleek stainless resists scratches and is easy to maintain.

Give it a new paint job, often this alone can give a new look and new life to what was an old, dreary part of the house. Keep it fresh and clean.

Use glass in your kitchen cupboards for a stylish and modern effect, this acts as a great showcase.

Change the lightning - Kitchens should be bright and cheerful places where you can see everything clearly. Use spotlights and/or low hanging shades.

Is your home getting to snug to fit your family in? Perhaps you have more children in your home now than you did when you first moved in?

Maybe you just don't like the way your home looks anymore and want to change it?

Well, if you answer yes to most of these then there isn't any reason to pack your bags and look for a new home just yet, as you could just Remodel the way your home looks.

In terms of moving costs you can really rack up the dollars, it is estimated that you could pay anything between $20,000 - $30,000 when you take into account all the services that you will need in the moving process. This is a huge amount compared to remodeling your home.

So What Are My Option For Remodeling?

You can chose to overhaul your entire property or you can simply start from the ground upwards.

Sometimes a lick of paint, some new carpets or wooden floors can give your house a brand new look that you can be proud of. Sometimes it can take a bit more work, especially if you are looking for external work.

Again though it's up to you on how much you want doing. You can put in some new windows and siding, or touch up your roofing to bring life to your home.

Of course there are many other areas of the house that can be looked into, for example last week we wrote about bathroom remodeling, and we will bring you some more ideas as the weeks roll by.

One of the biggest benefits that people find is the fact that you could add value to your home, especially with new remodeling techniques which basically help energy efficiency throughout the home.

When you come to remodelling your home, one of the first rooms in your home that gets tackled is the bathroom. Why? Usually because it’s one of the smallest rooms in a house and a stepping stone to getting the rest of the house sorted.

Bathroom remodelling can be cheap and quick to be completed, and there are plenty of inspirational idea that can get you going:

Whirlpool Baths

Luxury at its finest, who wouldn't want to replace their old tub with a custom air bathtub or whirlpool tub?

Bathing is meant to be a relaxing experience so you can customise your whirlpool with lights, jets, neck rests, and heaters of your choice.

Walk-in Showers

These additions are fast becoming popular in the modern house. They come with many customized options from the shower door, foot rest, shampoo and soap caddies, seat, and hand held shower spout are all options you have with a walk-in shower.

Bathtub Liners

I know most of you will probably thinking, huh? Bath liners? What do they do?

A liner simply goes over your existing tub and can be easily removed or replaced later without damaging any walls or flooring. They just basically give your bath tub a fresh new look without the expense of having to buy a new one. However if you have water damage tub then your best option is to replace what you have with new tub.

Bathroom Vanities

Vanities are always a nice addition, and add to the overall look of a Bathroom. There are many different custom options for vanities much like walk-in showers, so you may include custom drawers, cabinetry, counter tops, sinks, faucet and cabinet hardware, lighting, storage racks, rollout storage options, mirrors, and a lot more.

I guess this option just adds that finalized look.

Does Your Home Need A Facelift?

Written by

Let's face it, a lot of us look around our home and make a mental note of what needs doing, some may even write it down to come back to at a later date. Most people don't end up forgetting about what needs doing because:

A. They don't know who to go to or where to look for home remodelling.

B. They want to do it themselves but never get around to doing it.

C. They have no idea how to do it themselves.

If you are anything like one of my friends, they have never been a keen gardener, and most of the time houses that they have owned haven't had that 'wow factor' outside. So I decided that 15 years ago I would get some colleagues around to help them out. We completely transfomed the garden, putting down decking, fencing around the paremeter, and fixing them up with a nice outhouse that comes in handy during summer nights.

At NuvoBuilders we always put the customer first, and know how important it is to have a presentable house that you can show off to guests, friends and family.

We sepcialize in:

  • Exteriors
  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Energy Efficiency
You can glady take a look at our portfolio for images of recent work that has been carried out for all of these services mentioned above.
Whether you are looking for new construction work, home remodelling or historical restoration work, we are the team you can put your full trust in.
