3 Hotel Styled Bathroom Ideas

This week we wanted to give you a few inspirational bathroom ideas, after all you won’t know what you really want unless you have something to get the creative juices flowing.

A monochrome colour scheme can really make a bathroom feel super smart, especially if the accessories are carefully chosen. Think about your bath's placement, as you can see this one is fitted directly in front of a window.

This bath is located in the focal point of the room, but it also creates a feature wall behind the sink with stylish tiles. This type of bath is on the expensive side weighing in at $6,500.

If you have two sinks, pick two matching mirrors to hang above them. Creating symmetry helps a space feel balanced and therefore much bigger than it is.

When you decide to remodel your home there are many things that you need to take into consideration, from the color of the paint you want to use, right down to the type of shower to be fitted in your bathroom.

Many think it’s a quick an easy decision to make, but it really isn’t, and more often than not it comes down to how big the room is to what you can work with.

Working With a Large Room

If you have a fairly large shower room then the best option to maximize the impact is to install a wet room styled shower which simply drains the water directly into the floor. Pretty much, like a walk-in-shower. If you are having a walk-in-shower with a low lying try then think about the types of material you can have.

You want something that looks the business but also has its practical advantages, so resin or ceramic are your main two choices.

Also, think about the tiles you are going to have, and if in doubt get an expert to just check over the room before you shower for the first time. You want the water to drain away but you need the walls and surrounding areas to be as waterproof as possible, otherwise you could cause a lot of trouble.

Choosing a Showerhead

This is the best part of the whole experience, and one of the most important as it finishes off the look. Nowadays there are so many choices, but the up and coming showers are digital showers which can be turned on and off from any room in the house. Cool huh?

Our Top 5 Tips for Home Remodeling

Remodeling can be just as stressful as moving house when you weigh up the options, not to mention the planning and costs that have to go into these two types of methods.

So we are bringing you our top 10 tips split over a couple of blog posts for thing that you need to take into account when starting out a remodelling job with a contractor.

Tip 1. Use the contractor that you have chosen to remodel your house or a room in the house, to give you their recommendations. You need to be confident in their abilities and trust is of the utmost importance when you part with cash and allow them to enter your family home for the period of days or weeks.

Tip 2. Write down exactly what you want to achieve from this remodelling job. The more information you can provide the less likely it is that they will lead you into spending needless money on things you don’t need or don’t want.

Tip 3. Read through the quote and make sure you understand what you will be getting for your money before you sign on the dotted line. It is important not just for you to know what you want doing and relay that to the contractor, but also that the contractor understands what you want.

Tip 4. During the renovation and remodelling, always express your thoughts and feelings if you have any. Sometimes it’s good to let them get on with the job, but if you have any concerns then talk to the contractor about them. Right down to the paint code color in case you need to do any touch-up jobs in the future.

Tip 5. Lastly, be prepared to make a lot of decisions there and then, right down to the style and material your cupboard handles need to be. Once things are fitted, they are fitted!

Why Do People Remodel Their Homes?

There are a number of answers to this one question, and it all comes down to that person or family lifestyle at the time. The most common reason to why people remodel their homes is because they are tired of the old look and want to move into a more modern 21st century. The other reason is that they have had a life changing event such as the birth of a baby, and so, Mom and Dad want to remodel a room in the house from a study into a nursery that the baby can use for his younger years.

There are also those out there who want to remodel but they don’t really know what they want in terms of design, so we wanted to give a few ideas to you in order to get your creative juices flowing and hopefully help steer you in the right direction when it comes to choosing a design.

So for this week we wanted to focus on contemporary dining rooms which seem to be a big part of people’s lives and choices at the moment.

The image at the top of the post is the ideal example of a fully remodelled contemporary dining room, which should help you take away a few tips.

Firstly you can see how clean, crisp and fresh this room looks, the room is also open plan with the living area but this is just a point of preference.

In creating a contemporary dining room you need to stick with some fairly punchy color schemes that work well wit each other. Probably the favourite color coded schemes at the moment consist of black and white, with one more color thrown in.

I have seen a lot of homes that have a basic color system in place in their kitchens, which consist of two main colors such as a sandy color and a white, and then one wall of aqua blue. It’s not to everyone’s tastes but you can see where we are going with this.

The second thing to take note of is the style of furniture used, its modern, its artistic and its elegant to look at. There are plenty of wild and whacky shapes in the mix to bring any kitchen come dining room to life.

So, make a few notes of what you see and what tips we have given here and put them into action in your home.

You may recall the post we published just over a week ago on how to keep your house tidy this New Year, well we said that we would add a few more pointers to that list for you, and identify a few other ways you can keep a clean and tidy house.

Tip 1. The simplest and easiest way to keep clutter free and retain a tidy house is by simply putting things back where they came from after you have used them. If you just take one of the tips away with you and use it, then this is the one I would suggest you do.

There is nothing worse than using something and ditching it in another place, at the end of the day that item will always need to go back to where it came from. The problem is the more things you use and leave lying about, then the more work you will leave yourself later on down the line when you come to tidying up the house.

I think the biggest culprit to many is coats, jackets and the vacuum cleaner. These items can easily be left out and in regards to coats they can pile up making your house look messy.

Tip 2. The second tip that I wanted to offer you is to have a clear out. We have all seen the Hoarders TV series right? You can see how bad things can get if you collect to much stuff, so have a day to sort through the items that you no longer use or no longer need. By creating more space and recycling or chucking out old items you have more room to play with.

Well guys we have started a brand new year, and with that we need to make some resolutions don’t we?

Instead of your standard: Lose weight, stop smoking, stop drinking etc, we have come up with 3 tips to make you a tidier and more organized person. We will even give you some more ideas on how you can keep your house tidy over the course of January!

Tip 1. Putting quality over quantity:

Having too much of one thing can be a nightmare for storage. Let me explain, I have handfuls of bed sheets when really I do not need so many, the same goes for towels as well. By simply buying better made sheets I can keep one sheet for the bed while one sheet is in the wash!

This means there is more storage room, less washing and you still get clean sheets.

Tip 2. Keep one thing clear:

This is actually a crazy idea but it works. If you keep something clean in one room it will help make the rest of that room look tidy. So in the kitchen you need to make sure there is no dishes drying, or needing to be washed, in the bedroom keep your bedside tables clear, in the living area clear the coffee table so its free of clutter.

This really does work a treat!

Tip 3. Use a landing strip:

Do you lose your keys on a regular basis, or forget where you put the mail? Then a landing strip could be what you need to organise your life.

You can use it for keys, mail and even put things that you need to take out of the house the next day on. It certainly saves a lot of hassle having to rip apart your house, and get wound up when you can’t find your car keys doesn’t it?

Deck the Halls With... Frames and Flowers

So Christmas is all but a few weeks away now and as we enter into the Holidays, we wanted to give you a few interior design tips for your Hallway.

After all, if you are inviting family and friends over this Christmas time then you want to give a first impression as they enter your home.

Tip 1. Place a table in the middle of the hallway, break from the tradition of running furnishings around the perimeter (if space allows).

Tip 2. Top the table with fresh flowers, some framed photographs of you and your family, and perhaps a fishbowl with a floating candle in to bring light to this central attraction.

Tip 3. Make the hallway look bigger by using mirrors on the walls, this will increase the spacious feeling but ultimately keep that cosy sensation that is made up from the candle light. You can even hang some boughs of Holly around the mirror to give that fresh Christmassy look – with blends of greens and reds.

One thing you need to remember is that you need to keep the style in the same theme as the rest of the house and the period.

Otherwise, you will have some mismatches going on and the idea of improving the look can turn on its head quite quickly. Take a few of these tips into account when you prepare for Christmas Day, and have a great festive season from all at NuvoBuilders.com

The Top 5 Ideas For Renovating Your Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the popular areas of the house that people like to remodel and reinvigorate with new life. After the entire kitchen does get its fair share of use throughout the day and is one of the rooms in your house that will begin to deteriorate quicker than say, your bedroom or bathroom.

In today’s tight housing market having a new kitchen really can be the selling point, and it doesn’t have to cost mega dollars to remodel.

Our top 5 modern ideas include:

Adding a custom island - This feature has become very popular in the last decade, and creates plenty of working space with surfaces that are not only pleasing to the eye but are durable as well.

Install a new kitchen sink with a stylish faucet head. Sleek stainless resists scratches and is easy to maintain.

Give it a new paint job, often this alone can give a new look and new life to what was an old, dreary part of the house. Keep it fresh and clean.

Use glass in your kitchen cupboards for a stylish and modern effect, this acts as a great showcase.

Change the lightning - Kitchens should be bright and cheerful places where you can see everything clearly. Use spotlights and/or low hanging shades.

Is your home getting to snug to fit your family in? Perhaps you have more children in your home now than you did when you first moved in?

Maybe you just don't like the way your home looks anymore and want to change it?

Well, if you answer yes to most of these then there isn't any reason to pack your bags and look for a new home just yet, as you could just Remodel the way your home looks.

In terms of moving costs you can really rack up the dollars, it is estimated that you could pay anything between $20,000 - $30,000 when you take into account all the services that you will need in the moving process. This is a huge amount compared to remodeling your home.

So What Are My Option For Remodeling?

You can chose to overhaul your entire property or you can simply start from the ground upwards.

Sometimes a lick of paint, some new carpets or wooden floors can give your house a brand new look that you can be proud of. Sometimes it can take a bit more work, especially if you are looking for external work.

Again though it's up to you on how much you want doing. You can put in some new windows and siding, or touch up your roofing to bring life to your home.

Of course there are many other areas of the house that can be looked into, for example last week we wrote about bathroom remodeling, and we will bring you some more ideas as the weeks roll by.

One of the biggest benefits that people find is the fact that you could add value to your home, especially with new remodeling techniques which basically help energy efficiency throughout the home.
